It keeps you honest. Contrariwise, honesty keeps you real. Both of which won’t work with "woke."
In a conscientious call for clarity, Auguste Meyrat unweaves the spell of wokeness to show what should repel rather than mesmerize the world. “Woke” or being awake used to signal an awareness to injustice; nowadays, it has morphed into an agenda-dealing monster that cancels truth when that truth offends feelings about what is progressive and fair. Humans are such complex creatures that we can (and do) supplant a reality we’d prefer for the reality we have. And look where that’s got us:
“…Awareness campaigns become internalized by a large number of people and begin to change how society functions. Values become mandates, speech is policed, narratives are pushed, and dissent is criminalized—all so the woke can feel better. Logic quickly goes by the wayside as woke progressives adopt bad ideas that sound good but make problems worse. Thus, behind every major challenge in the U.S.—immigration, energy production, inflation, nuclear conflict, etc.—is wokeness, a mindset that wants to look progressive and fair about an issue without actually doing the things necessary to fix it.”
Another article [2] spells out the obvious complaints clear thinking people have against the woke agenda: sexual diversity, racial equity, unnatural inclusions are all forced on an “unwitting” public with dire consequences. Maybe unwitting is not the right word here, because what used to be normal wouldn’t support multiple sexes (112 and counting!), the dissolution of the nuclear family, the abolition of religion and raising children as gendered neutrals. Somehow, the Left has come to perceive these things as good, because it “feels good” supporting something supported by so many in the media, big business, and government.
What really is under attack are the Judeo-Christian values on which our culture and society have been based. This is what political correctness is doing: it is eradicating reality for a diabolic existence of sour purposes. “Tolerance” and “social justice” have become screens that censure truth even as they promote a false ideology. Our world leaders are ushering us into a “brave new world” of abortion, homosexuality, and every other “liberating” vice of Marxist totalitarianism. What will be the result of embracing a false reality based on misled feelings? Heaven knows and is trying to warn us: we are headed for diabolic dysphoria, debauchery, and death. Hopefully the world will awake before settling in for this woke nightmare.
