In this episode I discuss the only Catholic signer of the Declaration of Independence, Charles Carroll of Carrollton, Maryland. Although rarely mentioned with our other founding fathers, there may have been no American independence without him. There likely would have been no acceptance of Catholicism in America without him. His family also includes our first American Catholic bishop, who also founded Georgetown University. And yes, he is my ancestor. As Catholics, we should celebrate and make better known our Catholic Founding Father.
