The fifth of May is a very important date coming up in the north of Ireland, we have elections on that day.
Here in this small part of the world, we have seen more than our fair share of violence. The north of Ireland is divided by politics, religion, and our allegiances. There is the Loyalist/Unionist/Protestant part of the community, they want to remain part of the United Kingdom and are loyal to the British Crown. Then you have the Republican/Nationalist/Catholic part of the community, and we want a united Ireland free from Britain.
People have killed others on behalf of their ‘cause’. A lot less have died and sacrificed for their cause.
The leaders of the 1916 Easter Rising for the most part were devout practicing Catholics. They were not sectarian though. They wanted the best for all the people of Ireland. Protestants were once afraid that ‘home rule’ would mean ‘Rome rule’.
Now look at the so-called Republican/Nationalist parties. They have supported the redefining of marriage in spite of God's law. They all support the right to kill our most innocent, which is the child in the womb. These are the parties that 'Catholics' choose to represent them.
I AM A REPUBLICAN! A true Republican. I want a free and independent nation, not under Britain or the European Union. Sinn Fein (SF) and Social Democratic and Labour Party (SDLP) are all Eurocrats they have sold themselves to the highest bidder in Brussels.
It is ironic that my beliefs are now more in line with Loyalist/Unionist politicians than with Republican/Nationalist politicians.
Another significant event that happened on the fifth of May in 1981, Bobby Sands, who led a hunger strike that changed the course of political conflicts in Northern Ireland, went to his eternal rest at the age of 27. To quote Bobby Sands, 'Our revenge will be the laughter of our children'. SF and the SDLP support the killing of our innocent children. Remember that when you mark your ballot on May fifth.
