Writing Guidelines—Please Read Before Submitting Your First Post

Updated: Feb 12, 2023

Welcome to the CatholicismRocks.com blog, we’re pleased to have you as a writer! When you post articles, please keep the following in mind:

  • Blog articles should be between 500 – 3,000 words.

  • Our articles are from a conservative Catholic perspective, so please write with Catholic orthodoxy in mind. For example, we’re pro-life; anything in favor of the pro-choice movement is not in line with the Catholic faith.

  • Please include a photo at the top of your post. You can find free, uncopyrighted photos at https://pixabay.com, https://unsplash.com and https://www.pexels.com.

  • Please be sure to add the appropriate category to your post (you can select more than one). Simply click "post settings," then go to the "categories" tab.

  • If you have anything else to share, such as inspirational images, devotional prayers or quotes, updates on your parish or diocese, a question or a suggestion, we’d love to hear your voice in the forum. The forum is the proper place to post short reflections or comments.

  • Post under 500 words and with no photographs will be removed from the blog; in that case, we would love it if you'd add the post to the forum instead. The reason for this is because the short posts get labeled as "thin content" by Google and other search engines, which puts our site at a disadvantage in the search engine rankings.

We reserve the right to edit, remove, update or alter any post that does not adhere to the above guidelines. This may include, but is not limited to, editing to correct spelling, formatting and grammatical errors.

Design tips:

To give your blog post pizazz and make it easier to read, we suggest adding a few high-quality photos, as well as using a bold or italicized font for important or key points in your article. See “The Ominous Role of Contempt in Abusive Relationships” or “And When the World Becomes Weary of Evil” for examples.
